Birth of Christ

Christ is BornDecember Footsteps

FOR THE MIND!

In Galatians 4:4-5 we are reminded; “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” Christmas is indeed the celebration of the birth of Christ. Paul taught that the incarnation of God was a Planned Event; “But when the fullness of time had come…” The miraculous birth of Jesus is the fulfilment of Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” The messianic message is clear as Paul wrote; “God sent forth His Son, born of a woman…” Over 750 years earlier Isaiah wrote, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given...” (Isaiah 9:6). The birth of Christ was a Planned Event. The birth of Christ was also a Purposeful Event. “…born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law…” The curse of the law is death for those who sin and Scripture, as well as experience, teach us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Christ has redeemed us from this curse by taken upon Himself our sin and dying a substitutionary death upon the Cross at Calvary. The birth of Christ was a Purposeful Event.

FROM THE HEART!

The birth of Christ is also a Praiseworthy event; “…that we might receive the adoption as sons.” By nature we are sinners and therefore children of the devil. This is not a pleasant thought; however, it is an absolute truth. Adoption is the act of bringing someone from another offspring into their own family. It is a legal process that comes with a permanent result. The only way a sinner can become a member of the family of God is by spiritual adoption. Because God gave all and Jesus paid all, then the Spirit guarantees all; the adoption is accepted, secured, and permanent. “…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” For this we can rejoice. The birth of Christ is a Praiseworthy event.

Merry Christmas to the Beloved,

In His service, for His glory,

Pastor Michael
