God loves music! The Bible mentions music and singing hundreds of times. After all, the Book of Psalms is a song book. Music comes from God, and when we participate in it – whether by writing, performing, or even just listening – we are giving a gift back to God.
Florence First Baptist offers opportunities for christians to use all sorts of musical gifts in praising the Lord. Our Sanctuary Choir is for adults and leads in Sunday Morning worship. The Sanctuary Choir rehearses each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. S.W.A.T. is a new ensemble for students. They sing the latest contemporary songs and rehearse each Sunday at 5:00 p.m. The Sanctuary Handbell Ensemble is for adults and students. They rehearse each Sunday at 7:00 p.m. We also offer an Instrumental Ensemble for adults and students that plays on a monthly basis. You can join any of these groups by contacting Harry Adkins, our Minister of Music, or simply showing up for a rehearsal.
Another exciting musical offering is our Summer Music Camp for children. Boys and girls get to spend a week learning how to play instruments such as piano, handbells, recorders, and even steel drums. In the midst of all these fun activities, children also learn about the Biblical concept of worship and how they can praise God!
