FBC Family Commitments

As a family, we will grow together to know Jesus, to be more like Him, and to share Him with others.

We will love and honor God with our whole life.

Worship involves the whole person. Romans 12:1-2 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We worship God by centering our lives in Him and responding to Him daily. As a family, we gather for worship on Sunday to focus on praising and honoring God through music, prayer, and message. Our goal is to participate and be transformed as we open ourselves to our Creator and Savior.

We will do life together as a family of faith.

“As a family of faith, we will grow together...” We need each other as we seek to be more like Jesus. In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus taught us the greatest commandment when He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

Loving God and loving others are the two most important things we can do. This purpose defines our family of faith. As we nurture healthy relationships with others, encouraging and supporting one another through the ups and downs of life, our lives are transformed, and we grow together to be more like Jesus.

We will nurture spiritual growth in ourselves and others.

When we live in a personal relationship with God, our lives change from the inside out.

An authentic relationship with God transforms us into new people - people of integrity, good people from whom good things naturally flow.

At FBC Florence, we are passionate about taking steps to know and become like Jesus. This means that we cannot become comfortable with where we are spiritually. We must continue to develop our spiritual lives.

In Philippians 3:13-15, Paul said, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

God desires that we live a life where, more and more, we begin to think, feel, and act like Jesus. To make this real in our lives, we must be intentional about taking next steps in our spiritual growth.

Every week at FBC Florence, we provide tools, such as Sunday worship, The Gathering on Wednesday, daily devotionals, small group bible study, and other resources, to help you establish and develop your relationship with God.

Are you ready to take the next step in your spiritual development?

We will serve others as Jesus modeled.

In Mark 10:45, Jesus said,“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

We cannot become more like Jesus unless we serve. Christians are called to embrace a life of service at home, at church, at work, at school, and in our community and world. Our challenge is to view life as ministry and to be the kind of person who sees a need and takes the initiative to meet that need.

The mission of our church depends on all of her members being actively involved in ministry and service. There is a wide variety of ways to serve our Lord in and through FBC Florence. We can help you find your place of service.

If you would like to explore how you might serve in our church or in one of the local ministries we support, contact us in the church office or stop by the welcome center one Sunday morning. We appreciate the opportunity to have a conversation with you.

We will joyfully proclaim the love of Jesus to others.

Share is guided by the vision of meeting people on their journey and taking steps with them to know and become more like Jesus. This commitment is our daily responsibility as we demonstrate in word and deed the testimony of the Gospel of Christ.

FBC Florence supports and partners with local, regional, and International ministries that address human need and spiritual need in Jesus’name. As you begin to explore the Share commitment in your life, we welcome the opportunity to equip you and/or connect you as you seek to impact your world for Jesus.
